Ellis Allen

Lenoir, NC- Ellis Allen, Jr., went home to be with our Lord and Savior on Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at his home. He was a member of Yadkin Baptist Church in Happy Valley, NC. Ellis was born on July 5, 1946 in Richlands, VA to the late Ellis Allen, Sr. and Lona Bales Allen. Ellis served honorably in The United States Navy from 1963-1971 and was awarded the Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Presidential Unit Citation with two stars, after serving 3 tours in Vietnam. Ellis retired from the Caldwell County Sheriff̢۪s Department, where he was employed from 1990-2007. He is survived by his wife, Lois Harrison Allen of the home, his daughter, Petina Allen Hunt and grandson, Keagan Ray Hunt of Valdosta, GA; son, Wesley Michael Allen and daughter Jessica Lyn Allen, both of Lenoir; sister, Cornelia Collette and husband John, of Newport News, VA ; in-laws, Hazel McGraw and husband Ronnie, and Louise Griffith, all of Cleveland, OH; and seven nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 22 at 11:30 AM at Yadkin Baptist Church in Happy Valley, officiated by Robert Livingston and Sherrill German. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:30 AM prior to the service.
