Effie Mcguire Wooten

Lenoir, NC- Our beloved Effie Mae McGuire Wooten, 84, of Winston Salem, died Sunday, November 13, 2011. Effie was born January 13, 1927 in Ashe County, NC to Joseph and Myrtle McGuire. She was married to Calvin Reid Wooten until his passing in 1993. Effie Mae’s joyful nature and love for life put everyone around her at ease. She loved telling funny stories, eating and preparing delicious southern cuisine, and most of all, she loved to be surrounded by family and friends. Effie Mae was a shining star in all of our lives, and we will miss her dearly, until that great day when we meet again. She is survived by her loving son, Gary Calvin Wooten; granddaughter, Erica Wooten Shibley; great-grandson, Joseph Reid Wooten; sister, Shirley McGuire Sidden; brothers, Owen McGuire and Stewart McGuire; as well as, many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. A celebration of Effie’s life will be held at 3:00 on Saturday, November 19, 2011 at Harris Chapel Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 prior to the service.
