Ed Andrews
On Tuesday evening, October 24th, a wonderful man completed his earthly life and entered into his Eternal life in heaven…Edward Nelson Andrews passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side. Ed had been diagnosed with Dementia in the past two years, along with other complications.
Ed was a hardworking man, a kind and gentle man, and a man who loved being naturally simple. All who knew him were blessed with a sincere and genuine friend. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends wherever they were…in the mountains or at the beach, or just at home…cooking outside and enjoying the friendship and fellowship. He loved the time he spent working the farm with his Dad during his childhood and throughout his life. He often said that “mowing hay was therapeutic for him.”
He graduated from Oak Hill High School in the Class of 1959 where he was quarterback of the football team, and pitcher on the baseball team. Ed loved golf and watching UNC Tarheel sports. Ed and his family were lifelong members of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Lenoir, NC. His professional life was spent in the furniture industry.
Ed was the third son of the late Harry “Bud” Andrews and Clara Kirby Andrews. He was born December 13, 1940. He had three brothers, James F. (Jim) Andrews, Clifton E. (Gene) Andrews, and Roger Andrews. He was predeceased by his brothers Jim and Gene.
