Edna Pearl Nelson

Lenoir, NC- Mrs. Edna Pearl Phillips Nelson, age 88, of Lenoir, died Saturday, April 11, 2009 at Gateway Nursing Center. Born January 29, 1921 in Watauga County, Mrs. Nelson was a daughter of the late John and Lillie Bodenhamer Phillips and the wife of the late Cecil Nelson.Mrs. Nelson was a member of Cedar Rock Baptist Church and was retired from Fairfield Chair. Other than her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by 4 brothers, Raymond Phillips, Leonard Phillips, Frank Phillips, Grady Phillips and 2 sisters, Rose Greer and Emma Greer. She is survived by one daughter, Betty Sue Greene and husband Ernest of Lenoir; one son, Michael Nelson and wife Patti of Lenoir; two grandsons, Randy Greene and wife Jan and Travis Greene and wife Shannon, all of Lenoir; one step-granddaughter, Cynthia Triplett and husband Stacey of Granite Falls; 1 great-grandchild, Tanner Greene of Lenoir and 3 step-great-grandchildren. A celebration of Mrs. Nelson̢۪s life will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, April 14, 2009 in the Cedar Rock Baptist Church with Reverend Jim Robbins officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM, one hour prior to the service at Cedar Rock Baptist Church. Pallbearers will be: Randy Greene, Travis Greene, Stacey Triplett, Fred Lowrence, Ronnie Gaudette and Bud Beane. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Kenneth Beard and Jay Richards.
