Edmond Bell Smith

Lenoir, NC – Mr. Edmond “Eddie” Smith, age 76, of Lenoir, passed away on Monday, July 09, 2012 at his home. Born October 9, 1935 in Caldwell County, Eddie was a son of the late Tom and Mary Triplett Smith. Eddie was Baptist by faith and was a member of the College Avenue Baptist Church. Eddie was an accountant and had worked at Bernhardt’s main office for 31 years. He was a member of the Lenoir Golf Club for over 40 years. Eddie was a graduate of Lenoir-Rhyne College. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers Tommy Smith and Joe Smith. Survivors include his sister and brother in law, Mary Ida Cook , husband Doug, of Lenoir; his nephews, Tom Cook of Hudson, and Lt. Col. Beau Cook of Blowing Rock; he is also survived by numerous other relatives. A graveside memorial service celebrating Eddie’s life will be held on Thursday, July 12, 2012 at 11:00 AM in the Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery with Dr. Chuck Brawley officiating. Memorials can be sent to the College Avenue Baptist Church at 1201 College Avenue SW, Lenoir, NC 28645.
