Hazel “Edie” Perry Richardson, age 74, of Hudson, passed away on Sunday, February 19, 2017 at Frye Regional Hospital in Hickory. Born February 27, 1942 in Ashe County, Edie was a daughter of the late Woodrow and Alice Furches Perry. She was a loving mother who enjoyed sewing, quilting, cooking, decorating and shopping with her daughter. Edie had a great sense of humor and always saw the lighter side of things. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her first husband, Raymond “Bill” Richardson; and two sisters, Thelma Annas and Lucille Taylor. Survivors include her son, Bill Richardson II (wife Shelly) of High Point; a daughter, Brigetta Richardson Gaskins (husband Bobby) of Chesterfield, SC; a special friend and companion, Connie Kerley; two brothers, Lamon Perry of West Jefferson, NC and Russell Perry of Randleman, NC; a sister, Joann Gaines of Trinity, NC; three grandchildren, Erica and Sarah Richardson and Bobbie Lynne Gaskins; she is also survived by numerous other relatives. A celebration of Edie’s life will be held on Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Poovey’s Chapel Baptist Church with Pastor Nicky Waters and Pastor Kenneth Furches officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the church.
