Edgar Oj Coffey

Lenoir, NC – Mr. Edgar OJ Coffey went home to be with the Lord on June 7, 2011. He was born on February 4, 1931 in Caldwell County to Alice Townsend Coffey and Ed Coffey. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-father, Leonard (Hambone) Coffey, 2 grandchildren, and 14 brothers and sisters. He retired from Thomasville Furniture. He was a member of Worship Point Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Effie V. Coffey, 3 daughters, Juanita Curtis (Barry) of Hudson, Rosa Watkins (Buddy) of Lenoir, Barbara Sparks (Garry) of Lenoir, 12 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, 1 brother, Jack Coffey of Banner Elk, 1 sister, Peggy Hamlin of Banner Elk. The visitation will be Thursday, June 9 at Evans Funeral Home from 6 to 7:30 PM The funeral will be on Friday, June 10 at Worship Point Baptist Church at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be the grandsons. Flowers will be welcomed or contributions may be made to: Caldwell Hospice, 902 Kirkwood Street, Lenoir, NC 28645.
