Dwain M. Church

Lenoir – Dwain Monroe Church, age 85, passed away on Saturday, November 5, 2022 at Amorem. He was born in Caldwell County on July 24, 1937 to the late John Winston Church and Lacey Mae Dula Church.

Dwain lived in Happy Valley where he made many life-long friends. He enjoyed grilling and helping with Happy Valley Ruritan Club’s BBQ events. He was passionate about bluegrass music, hunting with his old friends, and spending time with his family. You probably would have found him eating breakfast with the gang at Bojangles or Donna’s Café.

In addition to his parents, Dwain was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Dorothy Hendrix Church and brothers, Dwight, Johnny and Ronnie Church.

Dwain is survived by his daughter, Cheryl Hodges and husband, Mike; grandchildren, Brooks and Chase Hodges; Lacey Hodges Triplett; Elisabeth Hodges; six great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Dwain’s life will be held at Yadkin Baptist Church on Friday, November 11, 2022 at 3:00 PM with Pastor Jim Lee and Pastor Stuart White officiating. Interment will immediately follow the service in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 prior to the service.
