Lenoir, NC- Rev. Douglas McArthur Hensley, age 67, of Lenoir, died Tuesday, December 29, 2009 at his residence. Born September 10, 1942, Burnsville, N.C., Rev. Hensley was a son of the late Sam and Alethea Hensley. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, David Hensley. Reverend Hensley was retired from Bernhardt Furniture Plant #3. He loved watching his grandchildren play ball and hunting and fishing. He enjoyed his ministry at Shaire Center and his church family at Hillcrest Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Edelene Hensley of the home; two daughters, Lynn Holder and husband Keith and Robyn Williams and husband Scott, all of Lenoir; 5 sisters, Hannie Peterson; Mrs. Junior (Lennie) Laws; Mrs. Home (Atlas) Laws and Mrs. Ralph (Polly) Whitson all of Burnsville; Ms. Geraldine Bradford of Asheville; 5 Grandchildren, Haley Littlejohn, Savannah Williams, Dylan Williams, April Holder and Shelby Holder and numerous nieces, nephews and other family and friends. A celebration of Reverend Hensley?s life will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, January 2, 2010 at Hillcrest Baptist Church with Reverend Kenneth Poarch and Reverend Bobby Brooks officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Friday from 7 until 9 PM at Evans Funeral Service in Lenoir. Pallbearers will be: Joey Miller, Donnie Miller, Jerry Gragg, Chris Austin, Junior Laws and Bill Lewis, Jr.  Honorary Pallbearers will be: Jimmy Littlejohn, Ronnie Ward, Doug Pilkenton, Albert Townsend, his nephews and co-workers of Bernhardt Plant #3.
