Lenoir-William Douglas “Doug” Cook, of Lenoir, went to his heavenly home Tuesday, September 26, 2017, at his residence. He was born April 23, 1941 in Caldwell County, to the late Shell and Minnie Cook. Doug loved the Lord and was a faithful member of College Avenue Baptist Church.He was a wonderful Christian role model to his family.Doug willingly helped others in need and will be remembered for his kind words and genuine smile.He loved golf and spending time with family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ida Cook. Those left to cherish his memory are his sons, Tom Cook, and his wife Sherry, and Colonel Beau Cook; two sisters, Betty Stokes and Anne Green; and five grandchildren; Madison, Maya, Caleb, Sarah, and Makena Cook. A graveside memorial service will be held at Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery on Friday, September 29, 2017 at 4:00 PM. Pastor Sheldon Green will conduct the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Caldwell Hospice, 902 Kirkwood Street, Lenoir, NC28645.
