Lenoir, NC – Mrs. Dorothy Mae Hart Vines, age 84, of Lenoir, passed away on Saturday, December 1, 2012 at the Carolina Rehab Center of Burke County.  Born May 1, 1928 in Kansas City, Missouri, Dorothy was a daughter of the late Richard and Edith Blake Hart.  Dorothy and Howard married in 1948 and left Missouri in the early 1960’s to move to Alaska, where she and her family lived for over 30 years.  She then moved to Roseburg, Oregon where they lived for 13 years before relocating to Lenoir.  Dorothy enjoyed playing the Piano, making crafts and cooking for her family.  She was a member of the First Church of God in Anchorage, Alaska and was also active in the Hucrest Church of God in Roseberg, Oregon.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister Leona and a brother, Leonard.  Dorothy will be remembered as a loving wife and mother. Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Howard M. Vines of Lenoir; two sons and daughters- in- law, Michael Vines and wife Alice, of Valle Crucis, and Mitchell Vines and wife Linda, of Pottstown, Pennsylvania; a sister, Deloris Dyer; three grandchildren, Jessica Vines, David Vines and Jeanette Vines; Dorothy is also survived by numerous other relatives. A celebration of Dorothy’s life will be held on Tuesday, December 4, 2012 in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service at 2:00 PM.
