Granite Falls, NC – Mrs. Dorothy Freeman Miller, age 65, of Granite Falls, passed away on Saturday February 9, 2013 at Caldwell Memorial Hospital. Born December 14, 1947 in Avery County, Dorothy was a daughter of the late Lawrence William and Verna Sue Daniels Freeman. She was a member of the Union Baptist Church where she served as music director for a number of years. She was a retired school teacher from the Caldwell County School System and was a member of the NCEA. Dorothy was also known to help raise dogs and cats until they could find a good home. Survivors include her husband, Grady Miller of the Home; a sister, Sherry Love, husband Finley, Jr., of Spruce Pine; two brothers, Lane Freeman and Max Freeman, wife Michelle, both of Morganton; an aunt, Phyllis Thomson; three nieces, Dianna Love, Megan Ritchie and Maci Freeman; a nephew, Scott Love; Dorothy is also survived by numerous other relatives. A celebration of Dorothy’s life will be held on Monday, February 11, 2013 at 3:00 PM in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service with Pastor Gary Lawrence officiating. Interment will follow the service in the Union Baptist Church Cemetery.
