Lenoir, NC- Mrs. Dorothy “Dot” Laney Brandon, age 82 of Lenoir, passed away Saturday, July 16, 2016 at her home. Born February 21,1934 in Caldwell County, she was a daughter of the late Ralph John and Wilma Beach Laney. “Aunt Dot” as she was known, was a homemaker and member of First Baptist Church of Lenoir. She had a real love of sewing and decorating. In earlier years, she and her husband worked with the young people at Lower Creek Baptist Church, the children's choirs and directed many weddings. She had a real passion for classical music with her favorite being the Hallelujah Chorus. Other than her parents, her husband, Carl Campbell Brandon and her sister Rebecca “Becky” Laney Saunders and her husband Robert L. “Bob” Saunders precede her in death. She is survived by her niece, Lisa Evans and husband Chris of Lenoir and their children, Jonathan “Jon” Thompson and girlfriend Danielle Burton of Hickory; Elizabeth “Liz” Evans and boyfriend Mason Suddreth of Lenoir; her nephew Doug Saunders and wife Kathy of Lenoir and their daughter Christa Saunders Price and husband Jeremiah of Lenoir. A celebration of Mrs. Brandon’s life will be held 5:00 PM Sunday, July 17, 2016 in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service with Reverend Don Ingle officiating. A private burial will follow in Lower Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with Reverend Josh Hughes officiating. The family will receive friends from 4:00 until 5:00 PM prior to the service at Evans Funeral Service.
