Dorothy Louise Rosensteel

Dorothy Gordon Rosensteel

Born in Hyattsville, MD August 24, 1933, to John Mills Gordon and Louise May Seek Gordon. She was the 7th of 7 children and had a twin, Donald who passed on May 21, 2022. The Gordon's moved to Woodbine MD when Dot was very young.

Dorothy graduated from Lisbon High School in June 1953, where she met and married her sweetheart James Hoke Rosensteel in August of 1953.

Hoke and Dot moved to Greenville SC, to live near their two children Michael (wife, Carol) and Jill Rosensteel.

During her last months, Dorothy And Hoke lived with daughter Jill and her family, husband John III, son John IV, and daughter Jamie in Hudson, NC. Dot's final hours were shared with family saying she loved them. She peacefully departed to be with her Savior on the morning of Thursday November 10, 2022. Her husband by her side with the comfort of Amorem Hospice, in Hudson NC.

She is survived by her loving husband, Hoke of 69 years. Their 2 children and 6 grandchildren: Gordon Elizabeth, Christopher, Daniel & Jonathan Rosensteel, as well as John & Jamie Noel Bruckmann; 5 beautiful great-grandchildren August, Hamish, Boone, Evangeline, and Dietrich; sister, Beverly Green of Maryland.

Dorothy loved the Lord, her family, and her friends. She looked forward to a new body in heaven as promised in II Corinthians 5:1 For we know that when this tent we live in now is taken down—when we die and leave these bodies—we will have wonderful new bodies in heaven, homes that will be ours forevermore, made for us by God himself and not by human hands. Dorothy enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren by teaching them board games, crafting, and ballgames. She loved making them their favorite meals especially cookies. Dorothy's prayer was that her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews would love the Lord, so she could see them again one day.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 17, 2022 at 2:00PM at North Hills Church, Taylors SC 29687.
