Dorothy Vance Johnson

Hudson, NC- Dorothy Johnson, age 90, of Hudson, went to her heavenly home on Sunday, October 15, 2023 while under the care of Amorem Hospice at Lenoir Health Care. Born November 24, 1932 in Mitchell County.

Dorothy Johnson was a daughter of the late Leonard Vance and Winnie Sullins Vance and the wife of the late Cecil Johnson. Other than parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Junior Sullins, Gene Vance, and Johnny Wayne Vance. She was also preceded in death by one son, Richard Johnson, and two daughters, Betty Johnson and Mary Cline.

Dorothy Johnson loved sewing, cooking and spending time with her family.  She retired from Caldwell Memorial Hospital.

She is survived by her brother Dennis Vance of Salisbury, and her 5 children: Gene Johnson and wife Frances of Lenoir, Kathryn Holman and husband David of Lenoir, Robert Van Johnson and wife Barbara of Hudson, Sandra Johnson of Hudson, and Lorrie Johnson Ragan of Asheville, daughter-in-law Diane Johnson of Hudson, and son-in-law Tim Cline of Morganton.  She had 16 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

A celebration of Dorothy’s life will be held on Thursday, October 19, 2023 at 7:00 pm at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Hudson with Reverend Ed Ford officiating.

The family will receive friends at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Hudson from 6:00-7:00 pm on Thursday, October 19, 2023.

Graveside service will be held at a later date at the John Johnson Family Cemetery.
