Dorothy Cloer

September 22, 1930 — May 12, 2023

Dorothy Marie Necaise Cloer (Dot) passed away peacefully on May 12th 2023 in Caldwell County. She was born in Ocean Springs, MS on September 22,1930 to the late Roger J Necaise Sr. and Addie Seymour Necaise. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Burlon E. Cloer, brother, Roger J Necaise Jr. and grandson, William J. Powell.

Dorothy devoted her professional life to educating children. She graduated from Southern Miss. (University of Southern Mississippi) with a degree in Elementary Education in 1952 and worked in the public school system as an Elementary School Teacher in Biloxi MS, Winston Salem NC, Baton NC and Hudson NC. She especially loved teaching 2nd grade and enjoyed seeing prior students from her classroom as young adults in her community.

Dorothy met her husband, Burlon (Bugs), when he was stationed at Seymour Air Force Base in Biloxi. As young newlyweds, they chose Hudson as their home but kept close ties, through frequent visits, with friends and family in Mississippi.

Dorothy and Burlon were active members of Hudson United Methodist Church. Dot loved being a United Methodist Women member (United Women of Faith) and spent many happy hours with the Happy Cheers group as they worked together to sew beautiful Teddy Bears and other precious animal crafts for children in need.

Dorothy will be missed by her immediate family; (son) Scott E. Cloer, (daughter) Adrienne Cloer Powell, (granddaughter) Alyse A. Powell Fry,     ( Robert N. Fry), (grandson) Jackson E. Powell, (great grandson) Barrett W. Fry, (brother) Edward Necaise and (sister) Betty Rosetti Necaise as well as many other family members and friends who knew and loved her throughout her 92 years of life.

We give thanks to God for Dorothy’s life. A service of celebration and praise will be held at Hudson UMC June 3rd at 2:00.

Thank you to the staff at the Shaire Center and to family and friends for your many acts of kindness.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests consideration for a donation to the Happy Cheers group at Hudson UMC.
