Doris Dillard Smith

Lenoir, NC- Mrs. Doris Dillard Smith, age 80, of Lenoir, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, November 30, 2011 at Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care. Born April 26, 1931 in Easley, South Carolina, Doris was a daughter of the late Joe and Mera Cantrell Dillard. She was Baptist by faith and was a member of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church where her husband is Pastor. She was a homemaker and enjoyed cooking. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by numerous brothers and sisters. Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Reverend Buddy Lee Smith of the home; four children and their spouses, Dr. Robert L. and Cathy Smith of Boiling Springs, SC, Barbara Ann and Reverend Kevin Phillips of Lenoir, Doris Lynne and Reverend Steve Griffith of Cowpens, SC, and Kimberly Jo and Reverend Randy Bryson of Easley, SC; two sisters, Louise Brown and Dorothy Dillard both of Easley, SC; she is also survived by 13 grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and numerous other relatives. A celebration of Doris’ life will be held on Saturday, December 3, 2011 at 2:00 PM at the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. Officiating will be Dr. Robert Smith, Dr. Milford Biddle, Dr. Edward McAbee and Dr. Joe Arthur. Interment will follow the service in the Woodlawn Memorial Gardens with Reverend Joe Angle and Reverend Floyd Perry. Serving as pallbearers will be her grandsons. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the church. Memorials can be sent to the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church at 695 Pleasant Hill Road, Lenoir, NC 28645.
