Doris E. Setzer

Lenoir, NC- Mrs. Doris Coffey Setzer, age 81, passed away on Friday, January 18, 2013 at Lenoir HealthCare. She was born in Avery County on October 22, 1931 to the late John Sherman Coffey and Bunia V. Coffey Coffey. Mrs. Setzer was a member of Whitnel First Baptist Church. She also worked for many years in the textile industry where she retired. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband, Clarence Crump; her second husband, Franklin “Frank” Setzer; step-daughter, Pamela Sanders; and 6 sisters and 3 brothers. She is survived by her daughter, Kathy Shull and husband, Dale of Lenoir; step-son, Ronnie Setzer and wife, Debbie of Lenoir; 2 grandchildren, Crystal Gragg and husband, Jeff and Daryl Shull both of Lenoir; 3 great-grandchildren, Joshua Gragg, Allison Gragg and Jenny Shull; sisters, Mildred Holland of Goldsboro; Delores Gragg of Beckley, WV; Loraine Corley and husband, Bill of Hudson; Carolyn Morgan and husband, Dave of Charlotte; and a large number of nephews and nieces. A celebration of Mrs. Setzer’s life will be held at 2:00 on Monday, January 21, 2013 at First Baptist Church of Whitnel with Reverend Stuart White officiating. Interment will immediately following the service in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Jerry Coffey, Dave Morgan, Dale Coffey, Gregory Corley, Danny Coffey, and Lloyd “Bunny” Coffey. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 prior to the service.
