Doris Nelson

Lenoir – Doris Christine Turnmire Nelson, age 87 passed away at her residence after and extended illness. She was born in Watauga County on December 17, 1928 to the late George and Roxie Turnmire. She was preceded in death by her brothers; Duel “Pete” and Dallas Turnmire, sisters; Delmar King, Dorothy Curtis, and Devada Turnmire. She was also preceded in death by her husband Earl Nelson. She is survived by her sons; Wayne and wife Linda, Stanley and wife Myra all of Lenoir. She has one sister, Della Jean Oliver of Lenoir, four grandchildren; Kenneth and wife Lisa, Sherry Nelson, Chad Nelson and Steven Nelson, three great grandchildren; Amber Nelson, Braxton Nelson and Bryson Nelson. She had many nieces and nephews too numerous to name. A funeral service honoring Mrs. Nelson’s life will be held on Friday, July 8, 2016 at Evans Funeral Service Chapel at 2:00 PM. Reverend Reggie Wallin and Reverend Lonnie Lackey officiating. Burial will immediately follow the service at Worship Point Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends and family one hour prior to the service from 1:00-2:00 PM. Pallbearers will be Roby Oliver, John Turnmire, Andy Oliver, Brian Oliver, Jason Oliver and Chris Edmisten.
