Doris Mckinney Black

Doris Black Lenoir, NC - Doris Ann McKinney Black, 91, joined her loved ones in heaven on Sunday, September 14, 2014.She was a fine mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, and daughter. A friend to many people, she brought out the best in everyone. Born September 17, 1922, Doris was one of three children born to Marvin and Augusta McKinney. She is survived by two daughters: Sandra Daye and husband Jim, of Burlington, NC and Susan Laxton and husband Neal, of Augusta, GA; two granddaughters, Caroline Eller of Charleston, SC,and Meredith Lambert andhusband Casey, of Augusta, GA; three great-grandchildren, Caleb Lambert, Gabriel Lambert, and Cara Faith Lambert, all of Augusta, GA, along with many relatives and innumerable friends. In addition to her parents, Doris was preceded in death by her husband, James Lloyd Black; a daughter, Nancy Kay Black; a brother, Dewey McKinney; and a sister, Inez Duncan. A celebration of her life will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, September 20 at Lower Creek Baptist Church. The body will lie in state from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. for the receiving of family and friends. Interment will follow at the Honeycutt-Price Cemetery in Burnsville, NC.
