Donald C. McCall

Donald Crawford McCall, age 86, passed away on Saturday, March 22, 2025 at Amorem in Hudson. He was born in Caldwell County on October 29, 1938 to the late Lonnie and Berta McCall of Collettsville. He was married to Shirley Henderson McCall, of the home, for 65 years.

Don worked in furniture and was talented in wood working, mechanics and farming. He loved to laugh, loved his friends and was a people person. There was never a dull moment when you were around Don. Their home was a constant gathering place for family and friends and was affectionately called “Grand Central Station.”

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Newton; Leonard; Robert; and Dean; and his sisters, Mary Ellen and Marie.

Other than his wife Shirley, Don is survived by his daughter, Sandy McAninch and husband, Jay; son, Donald R. McCall and wife, Elena; granddaughter, Brandi Jackson and husband, Adam; granddaughter, Jayme Johnson and husband, Jeremiah; and grandson, Brandon Lucaciu and wife, Lynsey.

A memorial service celebrating Don’s life will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, March 29, 2025 at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 2046 Morganton Blvd. SW, Lenoir, NC 28645.
