Donald Kirby

Lenoir, NC- Mr. Donald Ray Kirby, age 68, of Lenoir, passed away on Monday, June 1, 2009 at his home. Born on February 2, 1941 in Caldwell County, Donald was a son of the late Ralph and Della Chester Kirby.Donald was a retired major repair finisher at Kincaid Plant 6. Donald had also attended the Happy Valley Christian Church and loved hunting and fishing. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, John Kirby, Leon Kirby, and Ernie Kirby.He is survived by his wife Linda Nelson Kirby of the home; three daughters and sons in law, Amy and Gary Kelly of Lenoir, Norma and Allen Holder of Lenoir, and Wilma and Randall Hamby of Lenoir; three sons and a daughter in law, J.E. Nelson of Crystal Coast, NC, Danny Ray Kirby of Lenoir, and Randall and Crystal Kirby of Wilkesboro; three sisters and a brother in law, Violet Gail Bowman of Hudson, Carolyn and Clayton Robbins of Lenoir, and Shelia Parker of Lenoir; one brother, Lewis Kirby of Lenoir; a loving pet, Tucker Kirby of the home; special friends, Mary and Ray Rash of Lenoir; he is also survived by eight grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other relatives.The family will be having a private memorial service at a later time.Memorials may be made to the Happy Valley Christian Church, c/o Rachel Griffin at 2605 Blowing Rock Blvd., Lenoir, NC 28645.Online condolences may be sent to the Kirby Family at www.evansfuneralservice.comEvans Funeral Service of Lenoir is serving the Kirby Family.
