Diana Lynn Helton Messer traded her broken earthly vessel for a glorified body on Thursday April 4th at Black Mountain Neuro-medical Treatment Center. She was surrounded by those that loved her dearly, both immediate family and her Black Mountain family. She fought hard to live for those she loved but the Lord saw that she was getting tired and in his unfailing mercy decided it was time to call her home. As soon as she took her last breath on this side of heaven, she opened her eyes to see the face of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Diana was a loving, devoted wife to her husband of 37 years, never leaving his side up until the very day his journey down here was over. She was the most incredible mother any child could ever hope for. She was tender and loving and always so proud of her children. Even from a very young age she looked after and cared for her brothers and sister. We were all her children. Diana was an amazing grandmother, and her grandbabies were the light of her life. She was an amazing friend and always showed compassion to those around her. She loved to cook and bake. Her biscuits were famous in our family circle, something she passed on to her daughters. She was a hairdresser for many years but her favorite roles were being a Pastor’s wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Diana truly was a light in this dark world. The world grew a little dimmer the day her light down here went out.
Diana Lynn Messer was born on September 12, 1958 in Caldwell County NC to Jacob Vance Helton and Wanda Mae Mclean.

Two grandsons, Khori Jones and wife Hannah of Boomer, NC and Joah Messer of Lenoir, NC. One great granddaughter Elliott Reagan Jones, life long friend Jeanetta Hagaman and step-sister Theresa Blankenship.
