Mrs. Diana Elizabeth Oxford Maltba, age 74, of Lenoir, passed away on Tuesday, January 24, 2017 at Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care in Hudson. Born July 26, 1942 in Johnson City, Tennessee, Diana was a daughter of the late George and Lucille Benfield Oxford. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Whitnel and enjoyed gospel music. She enjoyed life and cutting up with her friends and family. She loved the outdoors and gardening. She will be remembered for her love of family, especially her grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Terry Lee Oxford. Survivors include her husband, Gary Edward Maltba; children, Crystal McGuire (husband David) of Lenoir, Amy Lingerfelt (husband Greg) of Hickory, and Gretta Maltba of Granite Falls; also, Tammy Poole (husband Gene) of Hildebran, Bryan Maltba (wife Terri) of Granite Falls, and Eddie Maltba (wife Michelle) of Hickory; her grandchildren, Gregory Lingerfelt, Shane McGuire, Amber Grout, Erica Walker and Brittany Oxford; a special niece, Shelley Oxford; her step grandchildren, Angie Black, Jennifer Thompson, Tenisa Setzer, Ariel Maltba, Scottie Maltba and Justin Maltba; she is also survived by five great grandchildren and numerous other relatives. A memorial service celebrating Diana’s life will be held on Saturday, January 28, 2017 at the First Baptist Church of Whitnel at 2:00 PM with Reverend Steve Hedgecock and Reverend Stuart White officiating.
