Lenoir, NC- Mrs. Diana Ellen Laymon Tye, age 58, of Lenoir, passed away Wednesday, October 2, 2013 at her home. Born February 20, 1955 in Cincinnati, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Leroy and Ada Blake Laymon and the wife of Dr. John G. Tye of the home. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Harriett Yuellig. Diana was a loving wife and mother and active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Lenoir. She had received her bachelor̢۪s degree from UNC-Chapel Hill and was a registered nurse. Diana also served as an ICU Nurse at Christ Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio and UNC Medical Center at Chapel Hill. She recently received her associate̢۪s degree in photography and the arts were an important part of her life. She loved animals, especially horses and was an equestrian. She was a past member of the Lenoir Service League and was very proud that she was able to serve as president of the Davenport School PTO while her children were students there. Other than her husband, Diana is survived by her three daughters, Jesslyn Blake Tye of San Diego, CA; Meredith Whitney Tye of Lenoir; Regan MacKenzie Tye of Lenoir and her sister, Dixie Blake Pursley and husband Bob of Springboro, OH. The family will receive friends Sunday, October 6, 2013 from 12:30 until 2:30 following the morning worship service in the Chapel of the First Presbyterian Church in Lenoir. A private graveside service will be held at Blue Ridge Memorial Park.
