Randy loved and adored Susie, his partner in life. She was more than his fiancée, they had a commitment ceremony.Randy and Susie were more than husband/wife, they were the best of friends and had a bond that went deep into their hearts and souls. Even though Randy and his daughter lived far apart (Texas & North Carolina), they were very close and in contact with each other often. He respected his daughter very much and was proud of her life accomplishments. Randy worked at Valmead Elementary School, Lenoir NC in Maintenance. He loved his position there and enjoyed his relationships with the teachers and students. He especially enjoyed working with his supervisor, Patty Clonch whom he had the highest respect for.Prior to that, Randy worked for over 20 years with Kincaid in their Shipping/Receiving Department. For 13 years, Randy was a Baseball Coach with the Whitnel Optimist Club.He loved coaching children from Tee-Ball through the older baseball teams. He was greatly admired by his baseball teams and thoroughly enjoying coaching little league baseball. Later in life, Randy became an active advocate for those with Developmental Disabilities and was co-founder with Susie Lenfestey of the non-profit organization, The Breakfast Club Org, an organization advocating for families who had a loved one with developmental disabilities & a place to bring families together. He advocated not only at a local level, but state level as well.Randy became involved with advocating for those with developmental disabilities through his relationship with Frankie Lenfestey who had developmental disabilities. He often said he learned more about life from Frankie than anyone else in his life. Randy was truly loved by the members of The Breakfast Club Org and advocating for their loved ones.He was well-known and respected by top State Officials and Legislators. He was also very active with The Arc of North Carolina. In his retirement, he spent his time building a hobby farm raising Scottish Highland Cattle with the “love of his life” as he would often say, Susie G.Lenfestey.Together they advocated for those with developmental disabilities, sharing a life caring for Susie’s brother, Frankie Lenfestey. They enjoyed traveling, working on their farm, and sharing moments with friends/family. Randy was a well-known figure in Lenoir and was respected and loved by many. Every time we were out in the community and someone would approach him to say hello and gab. Randy also had two pet dogs who were like children to him.During his last weeks, Scooby would sit at the door while CoCo laid by his side 24/7. It truly was heart-warming seeing his two pets stay with him during his illness, totally devoted to their “daddy”.
