Dennis Setzer

Dennis Setzer Granite Falls, NC- James Dennis Setzer, age 78, went to his Heavenly Home on Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at his residence. He was born in Caldwell County on June 7, 1935 to the late Clifford P. Setzer and Gladys Underdown Setzer. He was married to Pearl W. Setzer of the residence for 59 years. Dennis was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend who not only loved the Lord but he lived his life to honor that. He loved his church, Mt. Zion Baptist, and over the years he has served in many different capacities including, Deacon and Sunday School teacher. Dennis was active with the Caldwell Baptist Association Disaster Relief and also was involved in local and international missions having volunteered with North Carolina Baptists and Samaritan̢۪s Purse. Dennis proudly served his country with the Army National Guard. In 1964 he became the owner and operator of Setzer Pool Sales, which he operated until 1977. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Sherry Lawson and husband, Terry; grandsons, Jonathan Lawson and wife, Heather and Jason Lawson and wife, Lindsey; great-grandchildren, Olivia and Caleb Lawson; brothers, Ward Setzer and wife, Paula and Jerry Setzer and wife, Betty; and numerous relatives and friends. A celebration of Dennis̢۪s life will be held at Mt. Zion Baptist Church on April 5, 2014 at 3:00 PM with Pastor Glen Walker and Pastor John Greene officiating. Burial will immediately follow the service in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jonathan and Jason Lawson; Jason, Jamie and Jerry Setzer, Jr.; Bradley and Greg Woodie; and Mike Fields. Honorary Pallbearers will be members of Dennis̢۪s Sunday School Class. The family will receive friends at Mt. Zion Baptist Church from 5:00 until 6:30 on Friday, April 4, 2014.
