Morganton- Delwyn “Scoop” Smith, Jr., age 4, of Morganton went to be with Jesus on Thursday, May 09, 2019.He was born November 19, 2014 in Burke County to Victoria Nickole Howell of the home and Delwyn Jamar Smith Sr. of Salisbury.He was preceded in death by his Paw-Paw, David Vincent Caldwell, Sr. In addition to his parents, Scoop is survived by six brothers, Da Vinceon Howell and Ja’Zion Smith both of the home, Sincere Smith, Siayon Smith, Yazere Smith and Jarron Smith all of Salisbury; four sisters, Tavionna Hill, Skylar Smith, Jamirra Smith and Jazarria Smith all of Salisbury; maternal grandmother Teresita Caldwell Christian and husband Mike of the home; paternal grandmother Wanda Crowder of Salisbury and paternal grandfather Terry Chalk of Salisbury; maternal great-grandmother Beverly “Cookie” Gill of Lenoir; paternal great-grandmother Jana Caldwell of Morganton and maternal great-grandmother Nancy Byrd of Salisbury and a host of aunts, uncles, great aunts and uncles and cousins. Scoop was attending Blue Ridge Community Action Daycare and Preschool.He loved Mickey Mouse, playing on his tablet, he loved to eat cereal and bananas and had the most beautiful smile you ever wanted to see.He was loving and caring, he loved to make you run around and chase him, he loved to color, he enjoyed playing at the park and climbing on the playground equipment, he liked animals and he loved his family.Scoop was progressing through his Autism becoming more verbal in his desires, wants and needs.He will be truly missed. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 14, 2019 at Evans Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 PM officiated by Rev. Teddy Patterson.The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 PM one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
