Dean Mcdonald Kirby

Dean Kirby, 77, of Granite Falls passed away Thursday, September 7, 2023.

Dean was born on February 11, 1946 to the late William and Carrie Kirby.

In addition to his parents, Dean is preceded in death by his brothers; Lloyd, Wayne, and Eulice; sisters; Hazel, Alma, and Iva Lee.

Those left to cherish Dean’s memory are his wife of 47 years, Brenda Kirby; daughters; Wendy Chapman (Scott), Vickie Pittman (Danny), Nancy Norris (Mike), Dana Shatley; son; Eddie Hardwick (Angie); 8 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, sisters; Gretta Hodge (Ernest), Ires Combs; brother, Jack Kirby (Joan) and numerous other relatives.

Dean enjoyed hunting, fishing, four-wheelers, golf carts, wood crafting, and his four-legged best friend was Flipper.  He loved his family and his hunting and fishing buddies.  Dean was a man that adored his family.  He would do anything for anyone and not expect anything in return.  Dean was an honest, hard-working man, and above all he loved the Lord.

A service to honor Dean will be held at Evans Funeral Service on Monday, September 11, 2023 at 12:30 pm with Pastor Randy Bowlin officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm prior to the service at Evans Funeral Service. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens of Lenoir. The pallbearers will be Dustin Norwood, Josh Perkins, Bradley Hardwick, Matthew Griffies, Mike Norris, and Scott Chapman with honorary pallbearers David Wallace, David Mitcham, and Jason Griffies.
