David Brent Phillips

Granite Falls, NC- Mr. David Brent Phillips, age 42, passed away unexpectedly from a massive heart attack on Friday, February 1, 2013. He was born in Caldwell County on November 24, 1970 to Dewey Phillips and Elaine Minton Phillips. He was married to Melody Harvey Phillips of the residence. David loved God and Jesus and was active in his church, Calvary Advent Christian Church. He was a devoted husband, father, son and brother. He owned and operated Countryside Motors #2 in Whitnel. His hobbies included church softball, drag racing and tending to his garden. David was preceded in death by his grandparents, Herbert and Mozelle Minton; Herbert Phillips; Edna Phillips Rector; Thurmond Rector; and mother-in-law, Rosalee Harvey. In addition to his wife and parents he is survived by his daughter, Vanessa Phillips, son, Dawson Phillips, Victoria Cyphers and husband, Bryan; brother, Jason Phillips and wife, Rebecca; granddaughter, Addison Cyphers; nieces, Jennifer and Lyndsay Phillips; and numerous nieces and nephews on Melody̢۪s side of the family. A celebration of David̢۪s life will be held at Calvary Advent Christian Church on Monday, February 4, 2013 at 1:00 with Pastor Jim Lee, Pastor Greg Hames, and Pastor Jim Rich officiating. A private burial will follow the service. The family will receive friends in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service on Sunday, February 3, 2013 from 4:00 until 6:00.
