Mr. David Wayne Minton, age 67, of Lenoir passed away on Monday, December 5, 2022 at Caldwell UNC Healthcare.
Born March 13, 1955 in Caldwell County, Wayne was the son of the late Richard Edward and Colene Greene Minton. Wayne was Baptist by faith. Wayne loved trout fishing. He was an avid NASCAR fan, especially watching Dale Earnhardt. He was a hard worker and always put others first. Wayne will mostly be remembered for providing for his family and spending time with his grandson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Elaine Minton; a sister, Barbara Watson; a brother, Namon Minton.
Surviving family members include his children, Tamara Minton Cook (husband Doug) and Richard “Richie” Minton (wife Johnna); a grandson, Graham Minton; his sisters, Shirley Calloway (husband Claill), Wanda Hamm, Bonnie Townsend, Diane Casper (husband Tommy) and Ruby Casper (husband David); a brother, Mack Minton (wife Mary Jane); a brother-in-law, Stanley Watson; he is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
A celebration of Wayne’s life will be held on Friday, December 9, 2022 in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service at 12:00 PM. His son in law, Doug Cook will be the speaker.
Interment will follow at the Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery in Ferguson.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the service from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital at 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
