Lenoir, NC- Mr. David Paul Barrier, age 79, of John Wilson?s Road, died Thursday, July 27, 2006 at Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care. A native of Watauga County, Mr. Barrier was a son of the late Henry and Mary Turnmire Barrier and the husband of the late Rhoda Holtsclaw Barrier. Mr. Barrier was retired from Bernhardt Plant 7 and was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII. He was a member of Bethany Baptist Church and attended Word of Truth Ministries. He is survived by 3 daughters, Anita Barrier, Tammy Barrier and Donna Pennell and husband Johnny, all of Lenoir; 3 sons, Terry Barrier and wife Arlene; Randy Barrier and wife Debra and Allen H. Barrier all of Lenoir; one sister, Faye B. Bryant and husband Ambrose of Lenoir; 14 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Other than his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Paul Barrier, a grandson, Christopher Scott Barrier, 4 brothers, Ike, Webb, Clarence and Oliver and 3 sisters, Mae, Gertrude and Louisa. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 PM Sunday, July 30, 2006 at Bethany Baptist Church with Reverend Bill Bentley officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6 until 8 PM at Evans Funeral Service of Lenoir. Pallbearers will be: Andy Oliver, Terry Penley, Larry Penley, Allen Holtsclaw, Peanut Saunders, Joe Penley, Matt Barrier and Toby Barrier. Honorary Pallbearers will be Ethan Barrier, Caleb Barrier, Jacob Pennell and Derek Barrier.
