Lenoir, NC- Darrell Edward Marley, age 51, of Lenoir, died Monday, April 4, 2011 at his home. Born February 4, 1960 in Caldwell County, Darrell was a son of the late Bob Edward Marley and Mrs. Shelby Jean Brown Ellis of Lenoir. Darrell was a member of Bethel Advent Christian Church. He loved old trucks and was a “True Blue Carolina Fanâ€. He was lovingly known as “Turtle†by his family and friends. Other than his mother, he is survived by his sister, Regina Reid and husband Alan of Lenoir; one Uncle, Bruce Marley of Taylorsville; one nephew, Dustin Mitchell and one niece, Holly Mitchell and one step-nephew, A.J. Reid and step-niece, Allison Reid; cousins, Beverly Newsome, Barry Marley and Benny Marley. A celebration of Darrell’s life will be held 12:00 noon, Friday, April 8, 2011 in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service with Reverend Jerry Burnette and Reverend Myron Davis officiating. Burial will follow in the Union Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:00 until 12:00, one hour prior to the service at Evans Funeral Service. Pallbearers will be: Dustin Mitchell, A.J. Reid, Russell Honeycutt, Scott Shiftlett, Delmar Rogers and Keith Bradford. Honorary pallbearers are: Jack Pennell, Greg Smith and Todd Smith.
