Danny Lawrence

Danny Ray Lawrence, 58 of Lenoir went home to be with his Lord and Savior September 4, 2016. Danny was born August 29, 1958 in Avery County, NC, to the late James D Lawrence and the late Della Pennell Lawrence. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Whitnel. Left to cherish and honor his memory is his brothers, Steve Lawrence and wife, Teresa; Michael Lawrence; James Lawrence Jr; and Jeffrey Lawrence. One sister, Sandra Lawrence Prestwood and husband, Max Prestwood Jr. One daughter, Stephanie Nicole Lawrence, and two grandchildren Kalli Kubik and Carter Kubik. Many precious nieces and nephews, Angela Lawrence Cook and husband, Joseph; Jennifer Lea Triplett and husband, Raymond; Noah James Lawrence; Emma Faye French; Olivia Faith Lawrence; Kristy Renee Lawrence; Rebecca Elizabeth Lawrence; Max Prestwood III and wife, Jessica; Gardner Prestwood; Linzie Prestwood; Mitchell Prestwood; Michael Prestwood; Chad Lawrence; Samantha Lawrence; Chasity Townsend and husband, Chad; and Truitt Townsend. Danny attended Whitnel Elementary school and Hudson High school. At the age of 18, he started to work for Max Prestwood Water and Sewer where he worked for 40 years. He learned to be an expert heavy equipment operator and an accomplished mechanic and certified welder. Other accomplishments included his involvement with Nascar as an engine builder. Danny was a man-of-many hats. Some of his hobbies were watching and attending Nascar races, helping others, but his greatest joy was spending time with his precious family. Anyone who really knew Danny knew that he had a heart of gold. A celebration of Danny’s life will be held at 1:30 PM on Saturday September 10, 2016, at First Baptist Church of Whitnel with the Pastor Steve Hedgecock, Pastor Stuart White and Pastor Daniel Buchanan officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday September 10th from 12 to 1:30 pm. Interment will immediately follow the service at Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Boone NC. Serving as pallbearers Steve Lawrence, Michael Lawrence, James Lawrence Jr, Jeffrey Lawrence, Chad Lawrence, and Max Prestwood Jr.
