Danny Dunn

Danny David Dunn, age 67, of Boone passed away on Wednesday, August 14, 2019 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. Born May 3, 1952 in Akron, Ohio, Danny was the son of Gloria Neal Dunn and the late Harold Edgar Dunn.Danny owned and operated his own construction company.He enjoyed using his vivid imagination to make his vision a reality. His first love was racing.He started bracket racing at the age of 16.He worked his way all the way up to the top fuel division. Danny took it another step further when he decided to own and operate the Wilkesboro Raceway Park. After a long life of racing cars, he decided to retire and enjoy all of the beauty of the mountains in Boone. Danny developed a love of flying.He enjoyed it so much that he built his own airstrip and hangar at his home.He would fly almost every day.In addition to his father, Danny was preceded in death by a sister, Deborah Bradley. In addition to his mother, he is also survived by two daughters, Tracy Dunn Mulkey (husband Jason) and Trina Dawn Dunn; two grandchildren, Luke Mulkey and Madison Dunn; his ex-wife, Ramona Helsley Dunn; his nephews, Danny Bradley (wife Danielle) and Toby Bradley; a niece, Lisa Helton (husband Todd); he is also survived by numerous other relatives. A memorial service honoring Danny will take place on Saturday, August 24, 2019 at 6:00 PM at his home.Please contact a family member for further information.Please dress casual, bring a chair, this a CELEBRATION OF LIFE!
