Granite Falls – Mr. Danny Blackwelder, age 68, of Granite Falls, passed away Monday evening, September 8, 2014 at Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care in Hudson.Born March 5, 1946 in Caldwell County, he was a son of the late Howard Augusta and Mamie Jeanette Presnell Blackwelder. Mr. Blackwelder was a member of Temple Hill Baptist Church and a retired foreman in the furniture industry. Other than his parents, he is preceded in death by two brothers, Charles and William Blackwelder and two sisters, Katherine B. Duffey and Judy B. Pennell. He is survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins to include his nephew Nathan Pennell and wife Ashlee and their children, Cole, Bella and Savannah, all of Taylorsville; his special friends and neighbors, Max & Lola Presnell of Granite Falls and John Williams of Granite Falls, the special apple of Danny’s eye. A celebration of Mr. Blackwelder’s life will be held 5:00 PM Thursday, September 11, 2014 at Temple Hill Baptist Church with Reverend Darrell Hatchell officiating.Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4:00 until 5:00 PM, one hour prior to the service.
