Cornelis Kardol

Cor Kardol left on his final voyage on July 26, 2022, at Caldwell Memorial Hospital. He was born on April 24, 1942, in the Netherlands and has made his home in North Carolina since 1985.

Cor leaves behind his wife Marti, his daughter Marti and her friend Ijoma, his son Tony, his daughter-in-law Natalie, and his granddaughters Amanda and Olivia. He also leaves a large extended family, as well as a great number of friends who he considered family. Cor lived an amazing love story with his wife, Marti and built a family that made him proud and brought him so much pleasure. Cor embodied love, generosity, integrity, and hospitality. He is respected and loved by so many and may never have recognized how much.

Cor always loved to travel, both for work and with his family. A world traveler, he visited more than 150 countries, still, his favorite place was his home in Lenoir. He had an astonishing depth of knowledge of the world and detailed memories of his travels, but he was an uncomplicated man with a quiet presence.

Cor moved to Lenoir in 1991 to build Broyhill’s export department and made it very successful. He was well-respected in the international furniture community, many of his customers became friends.
