Colonel David Hatton, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Samuel AY and Lucille Lipford Hatton. He was born on December 19, 1950, in Caldwell County, North Carolina.
He graduated from Wilkes Central High School in 1968. After graduation David joined the United States Air Force where he became an Aircraft Technician and was stationed in Europe. During this time David traveled to many countries such as Spain, Italy, and Turkey. Upon returning to the states, David met and married Sylvia Maxwell on November 28th, 1975. This is a union that has endured 47 years of matrimony. These 47 years have produced 2 daughters, Bernessica Hatton with fiancé Christopher Rose of Lenoir, NC, and LaToya Ledbetter with husband Josh Ledbetter of Walhalla, SC. Further fruit of this union are ten grandchildren: Hadden and Madison Hagaman, Finley Luckner, Cadence, Joshua, Obadiah, EliYah, Ezekiel, Malachi, and July Ledbetter. David is survived by three sisters: Katy Mozelle Dula of Lenoir, NC, Diane Nobles of Hampton, VA, and Dehonor Charest of Darby, NC. He also has a host of nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends. David was a faithful member and Sunday school teacher at Darby Mennonite Brethren Church in Darby NC. David loved the outdoors and the country life. Some of his hobbies were riding motorcycles, rebuilding cars, fishing, and just sitting on his front porch. He will be missed greatly.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 1, 2023 from 6:00 – 7:30 pm at Evans Funeral Chapel.
A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, August 2, 2023 at 11:00 am at Darby Mennonite Brethren Church in Ferguson, NC.
Military Honors will be provided by Caldwell County Veterans Honor Guard and United States Air Force.
