Clyde Franklin "Jack" Gilbert

Clyde Franklin “Jack” Gilbert, age 85, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 25, 2024 at his residence. He was born in Caldwell County on December 10, 1938 to the late Clyde Thomas “Tom” Gilbert and Lexie Holman Gilbert.

Jack was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He absolutely loved farming, working with his animals and watching NASCAR. He faithfully attended Closer Walk Baptist Church and was a member of Worship Point Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Shatley Gilbert; brother, Thomas William “Tommy” Gilbert; and sister, Margaret Gilbert Whisnant.

Jack is survived his children, Clyde Timothy “Tim” Gilbert and wife, Dorothy; Tammy Gilbert Day and husband, Larry; grandchildren, Shanna Gilbert; Haily Fleming and husband, Thomas; great-grandchildren, Dalton Gilbert and wife, Rebecca; Ashley Hamby and fiancée, Brandon Fowler; Paisley Fleming; great-great-grandchildren, Weston Gilbert and Violet Gilbert; siblings, Loyd Gilbert and wife, Sue; Richard Gilbert; Roy Gilbert and wife, Joyce; and Lillie Gurley and husband, Tony.

A celebration of Jack’s life will be held at Worship Point Baptist Church on Tuesday, July 2, 2024 at 4:00 PM with Pastor Lane Hamby, Dalton Gilbert and Pastor Junior Hamby officiating. Burial will follow the service in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 3:00 until 4:00 prior to the service.

Pallbearers will be Dalton Gilbert, Thomas Fleming, Tommy Whisnant, Andy Gilbert, Brandon Fowler, Bradley Miller, Carson Townsend and Noah Coonse.
