Clinton Edward Church

Lenoir, NC- Mr. Clinton Edward Church, Sr., age 88 of Lenoir, died Tuesday, February 17, 2009 in Gateway Nursing Center in Lenoir. Born August 26, 1920 in Wilkes County, Mr. Church was a son of the late Reverend John and Ina Goodman Church. He was reunited with the love of his life, Margaret Clark Church, to whom he was married for 61 years. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Joe and Walter Church and his daughter-in-law, Mary Alyce White Church. Mr. Church was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corp. He had worked for 44 years with Hibriten Chair and Bernhardt Furniture. He was a Lenoir High School Bearcats fan. As a dedicated parent to the Bearcats, he was lettered by the team. He was also an avid Tar Heel Fan. He is survived by his daughter, Janice Church Reese and husband Rodney of Granite Falls; three sons, John Robert ?Bob? Church and wife Judy of Hudson; Clinton E. ?Eddie? Church, Jr. of Lenoir; Donald Clark Church and wife Pauline of Gastonia; one brother, Marion Church and wife Dean of Williamsburg, VA; one sister, Hazel Benge of Roanoke, VA; 9 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. A celebration of Mr. Church?s life will be held 2:00 PM Friday, February 20, 2009 at Trinity United Methodist Church with Reverend Jackie Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Thursday, February 19, 2009 from 6 until 8 PM at Trinity United Methodist Church. Pallbearers will be: Jeff Church, Randy Church, Kevin Church, Bruce Reese, Brian Church, Mike Frye and Mark Taylor.
