Clifton Randolph “Randy” Broyhill, 68, passed away May 26th, 2023 after suffering from Dementia and Parkinson’s for many years. Born March 31, 1955 to the late James Clifton Broyhill and Margaret Carter Broyhill, he was a lifelong resident of Kings Creek.
Randy’s father encouraged him to learn mechanics so he could work on the family’s farm equipment. While Randy was very smart with mechanics, he instead followed his grandparents (Gordon and Sarah Broyhill) into the logging industry. However, he stayed close to home to help his mother with her many farm “projects”.
Aside from his family, Randy loved music, the mountains, and motorcycles, and always joked his Norton (which he modified into a Chopper) should be his headstone. He was passionate about land and timber conservation in Western NC, and involved his children in the logging business before they were old enough to attend school. Randy rarely left Caldwell County, although he was known to venture into Wilkes and Avery Counties occasionally.
Randy is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Alan C. Broyhill.
He is survived by his wife, Gerri K. Broyhill, sisters Jane C. Broyhill, Susan F. Broyhill, brother Gordon R. Broyhill, his son, Clifton Alan Broyhill, his daughter, Sarah B. Potter and husband (Derek Potter), grandchildren, Kahlyn Potter, Elijah Potter, and Barrett Potter, and niece Blair Bowen.
Per his wishes, Randy will be cremated and his ashes spread on his favorite property in a private family celebration of life.
