Claude Wayne Winkler

Hudson, NC- Mr. Claude Wayne “Heavy” Winkler, age 63, of Hudson, died Wednesday, April 8, 2009 at his home. Born June 9, 1945 in Caldwell County, he was a son of the late Ransom and Maggie Starnes Winkler.Heavy was a self-employed building contractor, operating Claude W. Winkler Construction Co. and attended Center Grove Baptist Church. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters, Pauline Wakefield, Jeanette Page, Ester Winkler and Katie Lail. He is survived by his wife, Judy Bumgarner Winkler, two sons; Kelly W. Winkler and wife Beverly; C. Alan Winkler; and daughter, Annette M. Winkler; five grandsons, Tyler Winkler, Jared Winkler, Trevor Hicks, Nickolas Winkler and Jeremy Winkler; three granddaughters, Ashly Winkler, Nikki Hicks and Rachel Hicks; two brothers, Bruce Winkler and wife Jean; Harold Winkler and wife Norma; three sisters, Maebell Williams and husband Jack; Wilma Triplett and Revonda Ferreira. A celebration of Heavy’s life will be held 3:00 PM Saturday, April 11, 2009 at Center Grove Baptist Church with Reverend Doug Howell officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 PM, one hour prior to the service at the church.
