Mountain View, NC- Mr. Claude Thomas Mathis, Jr., age 61, of Mountain View, passed away on Wednesday, August 22, 2012. Born December 20, 1950 in Catawba County, Claude was a son of the late Claude Thomas and Mary Estelle Mathis, Sr. Claude was a member of the Macedonia Pentecostal Holiness Church. He was a mechanical engineer and loved working on guns. He enjoyed riding motorcycles. He was a jack of all trades. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two children, Tracy and Tammy Mathis; and a brother Eugene Mathis. Survivors include a daughter, Misty Davis of Concord; a son, Stacy Mathis of Hickory; his fiancé, Barbara Lambert; one brother, Wilbert Mathis; four sisters, Faye Wolters, Lily-Mae Dellinger, Irene Heavner and Joyce Adams; six grandchildren, Noah Davis, Oliva Davis, Mindy Levan, Westley Conley, Tracy Mathis and Tammy Mathis; Claude is also survived by numerous other relatives. A celebration of Claude’s life will be held on Tuesday, August 28, 2012 at 4:00 PM at the Macedonia Pentecostal Holiness Church. Officiating will be Pastor Jerry Willis. Interment will follow the service in the church cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Westley Conley, Tracy Mathis, Randy Hughes, Aaron Setzer, Kenneth Workman, and Noah Davis. The family will receive friends prior o the service at the church from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
