Mr. Clarence Edward “Ed” Cox, age 72, of Lenoir, passed away on Friday, October 8, 2010 at Caldwell Hospice & Palliative Care.  A native of Caldwell County, Ed was a son of the late Clarence Edward and Virginia Craig Cox. Ed was a Marine veteran and Presbyterian by faith. He worked for many years as a belt sander at Lenoir Chair 1. He was a very giving person. He had given over four gallons of blood to the American Red Cross. He loved his family and especially spending time with his grandkids. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Mary Mitchell Cox of the home; two daughters and a son-in-law, Janice & Tony Stoots of Gamewell, and Wanda Gail Mikeal of Lenoir; six grandchildren, Samantha Stoots Herndon, Holly Elizabeth Hollar, Thomas Jacob Mikeal, Victoria Blake Stoots, Zachary Dillion Mikeal, Caitlin Alexis Mikeal; one great granddaughter, Abbigail Marie Herndon; and one great grandchild on the way, little Jacob; he is survived by numerous other relatives. A celebration of Ed’s life will be held on Sunday, October10, 2010 at 4:00 PM in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service with  Reverend Steve Butler officiating. Military honors will follow the service. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the funeral home. Memorials can be made to Caldwell Hospice & Palliative Care at 902 Kirkwood Street, Lenoir, NC 28645.
