Clara Miller Hodges

Granite Falls, NC- Mrs. Clara Frances Miller Hodges, age 80, of Granite Falls, died Friday, February 6, 2009 in Camelot Nursing Care. Born June 12, 1928 in Watauga County, Mrs. Hodges was a daughter of the late Joseph Grant and Ida Matoka Watson Miller and the wife of the late Jacob Luke Hodges. Mrs. Hodges was a homemaker and had worked many years at IRC in Boone. She was a member of Rutherwood Baptist Church. She is survived by two sons, Jimmy Luke Hodges and wife Becky of Dallas, NC; Gary Wayne Hodges and wife Patricia of Granite Falls, 5 sisters, Lois Young of Boone; Chloe Hodges of West Jefferson; Nelle Greene of Hudson; Peggy Colvin and husband Bobby of Clover, SC; Joyce Rhymer and husband Stewart of Deep Gap; 3 brothers, Boyd Miller and wife Martha of Gamewell; Herbert Miller of Lenoir; Homer Miller and wife Betty of Gamewell; 4 grandchildren, Jeannie Whitaker of Rock Hill, SC; Amy Abernethy of Granite Falls; Michael Hodges of Granite Falls; Lisa Craig of Granite Falls; 8 great-grandchildren and 3 great great-grandchildren. Other than her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Charles Miller and one sister, Tois Hampton. A celebration of Mrs. Hodges life will be held 3:00 PM Sunday, February 8, 2009 in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service with Reverend Homer Greene and Reverend Paul Helton officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Sunday from 2 until 3 PM, one hour prior to the service at Evans Funeral Service.
