Granite Falls – Mrs. Christine Helton Messer, age 82, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 26, 2016 at Caldwell Hospice. Her family will always remember her for being a loving, caring mother and grandmother. Mrs. Messer was born in Caldwell County on December 6, 1933 to the late Joseph Helton and Grace Barber Helton. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband, Mackie Messer and her two brothers and one sister. She is survived by her children, Randy Messer; Cathy Mikeal and husband, Hugh; Teresa Coffey and husband, Keith; brother, Ronda Helton; grandchildren, Todd Coffey; Angela Annas and husband, Joey; Katherine Oakley and husband, Chuck; Jonathan Coffey and wife, Kimberly; Scott Coffey and wife, Haylie; great-grandchildren, Erica, Chase, Patience, Bronte, Nicole and Damian; great-great-grandchildren, Isaac, Astraea, Xavier and Lennox. A celebration of Mrs. Messer’s life will be held at 12:30 PM on Friday, April 29, 2016 in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service with Pastor Raymond Spann officiating. Burial will immediately follow the service at Conway’s Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:00 until 12:30 prior to the service.
