Christine Nelson McCreary passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday March 22, 2023 after a brief illness, with her family by her side.
Christine was born October 17, 1919 (103 years) in rural Caldwell County to the late Rufus and Lillie Craig Nelson. She was married to the love of her life Coy Lee McCreary for 33 years. She was most proud of her roles as a wife, mother, grandmother, a masterful gardener and cook.
Christine was preceded in death by her husband, Coy Lee McCreary in 1971, her eight siblings, son Danny McCreary, grandson Christian McCreary and daughter-in-law, Patricia McCreary. She is survived by her children, Bob (Michele) McCreary, Max McCreary, Larry (Judy) McCreary and Daughter in law Jo McCreary. Six Grandchildren, Robert, David, Bryan, and Jeffery McCreary, Heather Murphy and Shelly Hatley. Eleven great and thirteen great-great grandchildren blessed her life.
Christine was known as Chris with her many friends and simply Mom or Grandma to family. Her caregivers, Ana Ochoa, Norma Stone, Deborah Killian, Angela Davis and Larry Lewis were a huge part of her life and were very much family for the past 6 years. The contributions she made to her family, friends and society are immeasurable. She will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her.
A private celebration of her life will be observed Friday March 24, 2023, with burial to follow immediately afterwards at Philadelphia Baptist Family Cemetery.
