Cheryl Helderman

Mrs. Cheryl Penland Helderman, age 65, of Hudson passed away on Thursday, March 24, 2022, at Amorem Hospice of Hudson, surrounded by her family. Cheryl was born on August 25, 1956, in Caldwell County, she was the daughter of Linda Penland and the late Roger Penland. She was a Registered Nurse who had a passion for people. She spent her career not only caring for people but mentoring future nurses and healthcare workers. She never met a stranger and would continue to make lifelong friends wherever she went. Cheryl always had a beautiful smile on her face no matter the situation. She was a bright light to everyone around her and will inspire positivity for years to come. She was a faithful member of Center Grove Baptist Church, loved her Lord and Savior, and loved sharing her faith with others. She was preceded in death by her father, Roger Penland. Cheryl’s biggest joy were her children and grandchildren, who will dearly miss her sweet presence. She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Gary; Son, Casey Helderman (Patrica); Son, Chris Helderman (Christy); Daughter, Kelly Drum (Jeff); Mother, Linda Penland; Sister, Maria Penland (Pam). She is also survived by 5 grandchildren, Tanner Penley, Kodey Penley, Maggie Helderman, Easton Drum and Trapper Drum. A celebration of Cheryl’s life will be held on Wednesday, March 30, 2022, at 4PM at Center Grove Baptist Church in Hudson. The family will receive friends from 3PM – 4PM prior to the service.
