Charlie Ward

Granite Falls – Mr. Charlie Clay Ward, age 68, passed away on Sunday, July 12, 2015 at Catawba Regional Hospice. He was born in Watauga County on April 3, 1947 to the late Amos Floyd Ward and Bessie Curd Ward. Mr. Ward loved playing his guitar and he especially enjoyed older country music and bluegrass. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by her wife, Emma Kay Ward; sisters, Lilly Ann Miller and Mamie Ethel Eller and his brother, Arnold Ward. Mr. Ward is survived by his step-daughter, Katie Branch; sisters, Maxine South, Myrtle Carpenter and Katherine South and husband, Bill; brothers, John Ward and Floyd Ward; five grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at the homes of his sisters, Maxine and Myrtle. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
