Lenoir, NC- Charlie Edgar Clark, Sr., age 85, passed away on Tuesday, August 13, 2013 at Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care in Lenoir. Born October 16, 1927 in Caldwell County, Charlie was a son of the late Houston and Zillah Clark. He was an Army veteran having served during World War II.  He was Christian by faith and was a charter member of the Mulvale Baptist Church. Charlie was a truck driver and worked for the Newton Transportation Company for 40 years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Crotts; and a brother, Jeter Clark. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Betty K. Clark of the Home; three children, Charlie Clark, Jr., wife Linda, Michael Clark, and Karen Clark, fiancé Keith St. John, all of Lenoir; seven grandchildren, Stacie Herman, Brent Clark, Nick Clark, Darren Clark, Jeremy Storie, James Storie, and Raven Shook; Charlie is also survived by 10 great grandchildren, four sisters, three brothers, and numerous other relatives. A celebration of Charlie’s life will be held on Thursday, August 15, 2013 in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service at 11:00 AM with Pastor Brian Smith and Pastor Steve Walsh officiating. Interment will follow the service at Blue Ridge Memorial Park in Lenoir. Serving as pallbearers will be Jeremy Storie, James Storie, Nick Clark, Raven Shook, Brad Clark and John-David Miller. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM prior to the service.
